If you’ve been to our site before, you know our love for Causebox. Well, they just changed their name to Alltrue! Causebox, now Alltrue, is a subscription box that sources ethically created and sustainable items at great prices. Each box costs $50 and includes roughly 5-8 items. I highly recommend them and have gifted them for Mother’s Day & birthdays in the past! I may have even requested a subscription as a gift a few years ago. See below for my Causebox unboxing.
I recently received the Spring 2021 box in the mail and thought I would share it with you all. In this box, I received 6 items. They are:
FEED Project Canvas Market Tote – I love this bag, there are outside pockets for water bottles, sunscreen or any other items along with a roomy interior.
Palm + Perkins set of 4 Upcycled Napkins – I love wrapping picnic sandwiches in cloth napkins. I also have been starting to use them at dinnertime to cut down on paper napkin waste.
This Works Stress Check Sleep Spray – This spray is made with essentials oils meant to be calming and relaxing such as lavender. I haven’t tried this yet.
Stojo Collapsible 16 oz. Cup – I love this cup! It comes with a lid and straw. I use it at home, in the car, pretty much how I would use a regular cup. It also works well on a picnic as you can collapse it and fit it into a small space.
Three Ships Lip Treatment – Lip exfoliating scrub and buttercream mask. I haven’t tried this yet, but will update this post once I do.
Adesse New York Power Couple Nail Care Duo – Cruelty-free, vegan and Bunny Certified nail care!
It’s time for another Stitch Fix unboxing with pictures! Below is a quick breakdown of what I received in my most recent box. Stitch Fix allows you to write a note to your stylist for each fix, these notes are extremely important in getting a successful fix. Unless you are very easy to please you shouldn’t leave them blank.
For the Stitch Fix below I requested warm comfortable clothing that I could wear around the house. I’m not currently looking to expand my wardrobe but my Style Pass was still active so I tried another box. Style Pass membership costs $49 and gives you a year of boxes without the $20 styling fee. In addition, $49 is added as credit to your account that will be applied to your next purchase(s). If you purchase one $49+ item a year, it is worth it!

December Stitch Fix Review
FORTUNE + IVY Havana Cowl Neck Curved Hem Knit $38.00 – This top is super soft and the fabric has a nice little stretch and I particularly like the ribbing on the arms. The color, however, doesn’t do much for me and the top was tight under the armpits so I did return this item.
STS BLUET ayah Skinny Jean $49.00 – Apparently skinny jeans are out now?! These are not full length jeans, they fall right above my ankle but the fit was nice and the material soft. I can see how they would become a staple in anyone’s wardrobe. My closet, however, already has enough black jeans and pants so I passed on these.

STS BLUE Tayah Skinny Jean
MARKET & SPRUCE Emory Toggle Fleece Jacket $88.00 – When I first opened my fix I wasn’t a big fan of this jacket. After trying it on I fell in love! The material is very similar to a thick sweatshirt but all the details make it much more interesting. Which allows me to look a bit more put together while still being comfortable. So, this was a keeper!

Athleisure Wear
GLYDER Eclipse High Waist Performance Legging $78.00 – Another day, another pair of leggings. The material on these feel like butter but is strong enough to give a nice smooth fit. My current favorite black leggings have pockets on the side that fit my phone perfectly and I don’t think I’ll ever go back. (IUGA Yoga Pants) As much as I liked the fit on these, I have to send them back.

THRIVE SOCIETE Snap Detail Sweatshirt $54.00 – The last item in my fix is this baby blue sweatshirt with super cute snap details on the shoulders. In person, this top doesn’t look great with my wide shoulders. While the snap detail is adorable, it also makes me look like a linebacker. So, I did return this item.

Stitch Fix Style Card
Stitch Fix includes a style card with every fix. Included is a note from your stylist and suggested styling for each item. The card is perforated so you can pop out each style card for easy storage, maybe use an old recipe box.
Stitch Fix Receipt
You also receive a receipt in every fix which gives you a breakdown of each item and your “buy all” 25% discount. Your account will NO be charge until you go through check-out on the website or app. If you have a styling fee you will see $20 deducted from your total.
I had been interested in trying a meal plan delivery service for a very long time now. I did a lot of research and finally decided to try out Hungryroot after reading about their philosophy which focuses on curating foods that are nutritious, easy to prepare, and of course delicious. Honestly, the main reason I hadn’t tried it before now is that I found their online interface and pricing system to be a bit confusing. I wasn’t sure really how much food I would be getting for my money and how much flexibility they offer for a semi-picky eater like me. Once we all started quarantining and my children were doing remote-learning at home, I just decided to dive in and write about my experience here so all of you out there in internetland can hopefully make a more informed decision. Read on to find my Hungryroot honest review.

How it works:
This was the part that was the most confusing to me, I will try to keep it simple. You pay a weekly fee for a certain amount of “credits” that can be used on meals and other items from the Hungryroot online store. You need to sign up for one of their plans before you get to see all of the food and meals available to you. Meals end up being around $10 a serving. $99 gets you roughly 3 meals with 2 servings each and about 5-8 extra grocery items.
Once you are signed up, you can edit almost EVERYTHING you just signed up for. You can add meals, take meals out, add more snacks to your plan, and so on. You are given a curated meal list that is completely editable. For example, I signed up for 3 recipes with 2 servings each, 5-7 snack servings, and 4-6 sweet servings a week. Remember, we are talking about servings, so a larger snack bag with multiple servings counts for more servings. If you are interested in trying Hungryroot for your family, you would add more servings of the same meal to your shipment.
When I finished deciding how many meals I wanted I looked at my scheduled delivery and changed a lot. I was given a salmon meal and I do not like fish, so I was able to easily remove it from my shipment and add a different meal. In addition, I was given Medjool Dates which I am not a fan of so I was able to remove those and choose a different snack. The only issue with changing meals/snacks is that you need to stay within your “credit” limit I was referring to. Different items cost different amounts of credits, so you may end up having to pay a little extra if you can’t make it even with your credit limit.
What you get:
Below is what I got in my first box. This is everything I received for the $99 meal plan. Some items are pre-cooked and only need reheating while others are precut and portioned so you simply put them on a baking sheet and bake.
Grain Bowl with Chicken and Green Chile Sauce
This meal was great. I really enjoyed the Green Chile sauce and it was quick and easy to prepare. The zucchini was pre-cut and ready to cook as were the chicken breasts. They just needed reheating. This meal was SUPER fast and easy to prepare, it took about 10 minutes total which was a huge win in my book. I would rate this meal a 9/10. I could have used a little variety in the vegetables.
Spinach Feta Turkey Burgers with Avocado Crema
This was another great meal. The Turkey Patties with Feta and Spinach were flavorful and again pre-cooked so all I needed to do was heat them up. I liked the multi-grain sandwich buns and since they came in a pack of 8, I was able to use them for lunches later in the week. The Avocado Crema sauce was smooth and creamy. I would rate this meal an 8/10, a point was deducted because this meal did not come with any side dish or veggie. I also added a slice of my own cheese and some fried jalapeños to this burger.
Ravioli with Root Vegetables and Kale Pesto
This was my least favorite meal of the week. The ravioli was dairy free and bland as was the Kale Pesto Sauce. I am not a huge fan of kale, so the flavor just wasn’t there for me on this sauce. The Root Vegetables were great and included veggies I wouldn’t normally buy, like rutabaga and turnips, so that was a plus! I would rate this meal a 4/10. I am a real pasta fan and this just didn’t live up.
Almond Chickpea Cookie Dough
When I signed up for the plan, I used a coupon code to get their Almond Chickpea Cookie Dough for free with each shipment. This was one of the main reasons I chose to sign up when I did. You can eat this cookie dough raw if that is something you are into, I chose to bake them. I made these for my kids and didn’t tell them what they were made of. They gobbled them right up. I also enjoyed them but could tell they are different than regular chocolate chip cookies, for a healthy version they are very good. They have a softer texture than standard cookies and were a winner for everyone in my family. I would rate these cookies a 9/10!
Other items in my box:
Abe’s Blueberry Muffins – 10/10 – My kids LOVED theses muffins, they were all eaten the day they were delivered.
Pumfu Pumpkin Tofu – 8/10 – I love tofu and was excited to try this. I thought it was very good, but much smaller than a standard tofu package. It had a slightly nutty flavor and was a little firmer than standard firm tofu.
Cedar’s Garlic Hummus Snack Pack – 10/10 – If you like hummus, you’ll like this convenient snack pack!
Basil Zucchini White Bean Salad – 9/10 – Very good, very flavorful makes a nice side dish for lunch.
Garlicky Herb Chickpea Duo – 9/10 – Again, very good, very flavorful!
Epic Wagyu Beef Steak Strip – 10/10 – Grass-fed beef with great flavor, and it makes a great quick snack.
Bobo’s Maple Pecan Oat Bar – 3/10 – Not great, overpowering scent. No one in my house could finish this bar.
Overall Review:
I really enjoyed Hungryroot. Most of the meals were great and super healthy. I would absolutely eat everything again except for the ravioli. The meals were all fast to prepare and needed minimal prep. Hungryroot also introduced me to some new pre-packed food brands that I enjoyed and will purchase in the future.
I would recommend Hungryroot for couples or small families who are low on time and are looking for healthier meals. However, I don’t think it is very practical for larger families with kids that eat large portions. The portion sizes were just right for my husband and I, but my growing teenage nephews would need multiple side dishes/multiple portions. Additionally, my younger, slightly picky eater kids, didn’t eat any of the meals. I would say, if this sounds somewhat interesting or helpful to you, give it a try! You can always cancel, even after just one shipment!

Pros:
-Meals are super easy to prepare -Meals are pre-planned and produce is fresh -Food is very healthy and well portioned
Cons:
-Cost – on the more expensive side -Not super family friendly, my kids weren’t fans of some meals -Limited meal options

Stitch Fix allows you to write a note to your stylist for each fix, these notes are extremely important in getting a successful fix. Unless you are very easy to please you shouldn’t leave them blank.
Great advice but the holiday season got the best of me and I forgot to include a note! This seemed to work out okay last time but unfortunately it didn’t this time around. Take a look below for what I received and what I thought of each item.

December Stitch Fix Review
NINE BRITTON Billie Tie Front Brushed Knit Top $38.00 ~ While the color of this top makes it versatile I thought the material was a bit too thin. The side tie was cute but not enough for me to drop $38. This item I returned.
NINE BRITTON Billie Tie Front Brushed Knit Top
STITCHES & STRIPES Robbie Cable Front Turtleneck Pullover $74.00 ~ While I liked the look of this pullover sweater it was a bit too itchy especially around the neckline. It was a bummer but I had to return this item as well.
STITCHES & STRIPES Robbie Cable Front Turtleneck Pullover
MARKET & SPRUCE Larsin Packable Vest $68.00 ~ My favorite piece in my December Stitch Fix was this cute packable vest. It is really cold here in Maine and when I’m chilly around the house I can throw on a light vest. I decided to keep this item.
MARKET & SPRUCE Larsin Packable Vest
TOMS Novelty Alpargata Leather Wrap Flat $64.95 ~ I am NOT a fan of the plaid pattern on these Toms so I knew I would return them immediately. I did try them on and they were incredibly comfortable and fit like a glove. I’ll have to look at purchases the same shoe but in a different pattern.
TOMS Novelty Alpargata Leather Wrap Flat
PISTOLA Arianna Skinny Corduroy Button Front Jean $88.00 ~ I think I had a pair of these in the 90’s but I’m not ready to return to the style just yet. Also, the fit was a bit tighter because of the corduroy so I ended up returning these as well.

It’s time for another Stitch Fix review with pictures! Below is a quick rundown of what I received in my most recent box. Stitch Fix allows you to write a note to your stylist for each fix, these notes are extremely important in getting a successful fix. Unless you are very easy to please you should never leave them blank.
Welp, this time I threw my own advice out the window. I wanted to see what would happen if I didn’t include a note. There wasn’t anything in particular I was searching for this time around and this was my 12th fix so I figured they probably had a good idea of what I like at this point. So, I decided to roll the dice. Take a look below for what I received, what I decided to keep and my full October Stitch Fix Review.

October Stitch Fix Review
My October Stitch Fix right out of the box! Don’t you love how nicely everything is folded and presented like a little present? You get a quick glance at what’s in store.
LIVERPOOL Tinsley High Rise Skinny Jean $78.00 – These skinny jeans were softer than I expected and fit like a glove. I don’t have any black jeans in my wardrobe, how did you know Stitch Fix? These are a keeper.
MIX BY 41 HAWTHORN Kallon Brushed Knit Hoodie $38.00 – I didn’t know what to expect when I saw this folded in my pile. Is it another turtleneck sweater? Nope, a super soft knit hoodie! My day to day wardrobe is extremely casual and this is a great layering piece, especially for winters in Maine. The extra details on the arms made this a keeper too.
FORTUNE + IVY Christelle Button Down Blouse $42.00 – My first impression on this top was “No!”. I would never have picked this in a clothing store but I have to say I really like the fit. The color is also good for my complexion and great for the Fall. It was a smidge too tight so I’ll need a larger size. Luckily, Stitch Fix makes it very easy to request a different sizes. I’m a little on the fence, but I did decide to keep this one so I could receive the extra 25% off.
Cardigan and Earrings
PINK CLOVER Nouri Textured Two Pocket Cardigan $48.00 – I’m a sucker for a nice long cozy cardigan. Winter is very long time here in Maine so I practically live in them. I feel in love with the structure of this one from Pink Clover. Are you sensing a theme? Yes, I kept this one as well.
MARLYN SCHIFF Delilah Round Crystal Earrings $28.00 – This is the first piece of jewelry that I’ve received in a Stitch Fix. I’ve indicated in my settings that I prefer to received jewelry rarely. Jewelry isn’t something I often spend money one but I do really like these pair of earrings they sent. The quality is very nice, they feel very solid and are nicely made. This picture doesn’t capture it but they have a nice sparkle as well. A keeper!
Stitch Fix Style Card & Price Breakdown
Just in case you were wondering, this is the paperwork that comes with every Stitch Fix. The style card includes a little note from your stylist and ideas on how to incorporate each item into your wardrobe.
Attention busy moms and dads, we have a new coffee solution for you! Humblemaker, an independent coffee company out of California, sent us some of their new cold brew coffee shots to test and we are big fans.
Note: Affiliate links below. If you click on and purchase any item from this list, we may receive a small commission at no cost to you. We thank you for supporting us and keeping our website running!
Humblemaker generously sent us a gorgeous highball glass and 3 packs of their new cold brew shots; one of each variety. Each package ($30) contains 8 shots which is just about the right number to get you through the week – one a day and one emergency shot for long work days.
About Humblemaker
“Humblemaker cold brews are made using only the highest quality, responsibly sourced, fresh roasted organic coffees. Their proprietary process is cold from start to finish – closely regulating brew temperature and brew time to ensure ideal extraction and flavor. Their premium ingredients and cut-no-corners-attitude delivers the finest quality finished product possible.” This is directly from their website because, hey, you can’t beat this description!
Our Review
Each shot offers a little something extra like Vitamin C or Ginseng. We love the 115mg of coffee in each shot but also the extra wellness boost! They are perfect for coffee on the go or to keep at your desk for a mid-day boost. This summer we brought them camping, some folks drank their shots straight and other added theirs to some cool milk.
note: these shots do need to be kept refrigerated so they stayed in the cooler at camp
Cold Brew Coffee Shots – 3 Options
1) La Fonda – “An antioxidant rich, Mexican Coffee cold brew shot with pure cinnamon and cacao that harness all the immune boosting power of green tea: active polyphenols, Vitamin C and selenium”
Taste test: The cinnamon and cacao really make this shot fantastic, the flavor isn’t overpowering and the coffee is smooth. Who doesn’t need an extra immune boost these days? I’ve actually mixed this with the Boomtowne shot for the ultimate wellness shot.
2) Black Sea – “This cognitive health Turkish Coffee cold brew shot is brewed with real cardamom and clove packed with L-Theanine and Ginseng, both known to promote memory and reaction time.”
Taste test: This was my least favorite of the three, the coffee is still fine but I’m extremely opposed to cloves. The clove notes seemed very strong to me. If cardamom and clove peak your interest then you will enjoy this one, it is particularly good for the fall.
3) Boomtowne – “An ultra smooth Simply Black triple strength cold brew shot with liquid multivitamin.”
Taste test: Yes, this is the winner for me! A wicked smooth no-frills black coffee shot with a multivitamin to boot.
Conclusion
There are so many pros – flavor, taste and convenience. The wellness aspect of these shots is an absolute stand out. The La Fonda with extra immunity boost offers the ultimate combo. While these shots won’t replace my regular coffee everyday they will become a regular purchase. Having some on hand for those extra busy days has been a lifesaver.
The only con for me is the price. $30 for an 8-pack of shots seems a little steep, that is $3.75 each. This is similar to a Starbucks Coffee, but much more than brewed coffee at home. The good news is you are getting a multivitamin or an immunity boost in addition to your caffeine fix. You also won’t be tempted to get that pastry as you order your mid-day coffee. 😉
If you are unsure of what shot would work best for you, Humblemaker offers a sample pack with all 3 varieties. Once you find your favorite you can sign-up for their subscription service. Right now you can save 15% with subscription & save by using our affiliate link HERE. (only $3.19 per shot)
Humblemaker also offers whole bean coffee (or ground) starting at $18 for 12oz along with great swag like their highball glass and coffee tumblers.

I’m so excited to share my Summer Stitch Fix Haul! Below is a quick run down of what I received in my most recent box. As we have mentioned in previous posts, Stitch Fix allows you to write a note to your stylist for each fix. These notes are extremely important in getting a successful fix. Unless you are very easy to please you should never leave them blank. For the stitch below I wrote: “I’m looking for some new summer clothes. Think Jennifer Aniston Street Style. Maybe a casual maxi dress. Spending most of my time at home these days so nothing too fancy.” Keep reading to see what I kept and what I sent back.
Note: Stylist can be restricted by what is in-stock in your size.

WISP Comet Knit Maxi Dress – I loved the way this dress fits but I wasn’t a huge fan of the pattern. What do you think?
VIOLETS & ROSES Tala Scallop Detailed Pocket Short – This was my least favorite item in my summer Stitch Fix haul. It’s hard to tell from this photo but these shorts made me feel super old and they didn’t fit well on my hips.
DANIEL RAINN Quin Keyhole Crochet Top – They keep sending me these tops that are SUPER see thru, it is hard to tell from the picture above but my nude bra is showing through the thin white material. Love the design but it isn’t practical for every day wear as a mom.
VIOLET & RED Evita Perforated Wedge – These were super cute and very comfortable but I have a similar pair.
STS BLUE Neve Skinny Jean – By far my favorite item! If you are looking for a nice pair of jeans Stitch Fix can hook you up. All of the jeans that I wear are from previous fixes.

When I signed up I used a coupon code for 20% off making my first Causebox only about $35. That is a great price point! If you are still on the fence about trying it don’t hesitate, just look at all that I received in my box! Box Breakdown: a Pixie Mood crossbody purse made with vegan leather, a set of reusable produce bags, Dime Eyelash Serum and Mascara, Aqua Aura Restorative Eye Cream, a Bento Box, a Calm Mood Mist in Lavender Scent, a Jenni Earle Bandana and floral postcard. All items were FULL SIZE, not samples.
This box was amazing for me in terms of value. All of the items are fantastic in quality, size, and are thoughtful for the environment. I was very impressed and loved opening this box. The beautiful, floral shipping box is easily reusable to store any number of things in my home and I have used all products so far. The only item I wasn’t as interested in was the bandana, but with the pandemic going around I have used it as a face mask!
